As the year comes to an end, it’s a great time to reflect on what we’ve achieved with Active Council over the past year.
Active Council has been managed by WJP Software Limited for just under a year, and during that time, we’ve made significant strides. Initially, WJP Software worked with a small group of councils, managing a total of 10 websites. Since February, we’ve expanded our reach significantly, adding 40 new councils to our platform. Using our purpose-built web content management system, we’ve helped councils transition to modern, secure websites with .gov.uk domains and integrated email services.
A major milestone this year was being accepted into the Parish Helpers Domain Program, a central government initiative offering funding to councils adopting .gov.uk domains for their websites and emails.
We’ve continued to rely on Microsoft Office 365 as our core productivity suite. This has proven to be a robust and flexible solution, allowing councils to scale their services as needed—whether it’s for simple email use, full desktop applications, or cloud document storage. Paired with our backup solution, councils can rest assured that their emails and documents are secure, with the ability to recover data and review account activity over time.
This year, we’ve also introduced virus protection for council computers. This new feature ensures systems are secure and compliant with Cyber Essentials standards, providing resilience against cyber threats.
Our customer base has grown beyond North Yorkshire to include councils in County Durham, East Riding, Norfolk, Devon, and many other regions. The map below highlights where our customers are now located.
Looking ahead to 2025, we’re committed to expanding our customer base and delivering new features that make managing websites simpler and less time-consuming for clerks.
We’d like to thank all our customers for their continued support and wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
